Saint-Martin, Saint-Barth, Anguilla: three islands in one stay

By Sophie Jouini, host

Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthélemy and Anguilla sit within a few nautical miles of each other. From a studio in Orient Bay and the deck of the Zéphyr catamaran, you can experience all three in a single stay, without changing accommodation every other day. Here is how I organise it with my guests.

The Zéphyr catamaran, a Bali 4.1, at anchor in a turquoise bay
The Zéphyr, a Bali 4.1 catamaran based in Saint-Martin, links the three islands from Grand-Case or Gustavia.

Three islands, three characters

Saint-Martin is the base: an island shared between a French side to the north and Dutch Sint Maarten to the south, with two airports (Princess Juliana on the Dutch side, Grand-Case L'Espérance on the French side). This is where our studios are, in Orient Bay, and where the Zéphyr is moored, in Grand-Case bay.

Saint-Barthélemy, to the south-east, is reached from Saint-Martin by a short flight or by ferry. Its most beautiful anchorages, Fourchue, Colombier, Gouverneur or Saline, can only be reached by sea: that is why we offer a night on board there rather than a hotel.

Anguilla, about ten nautical miles north of Saint-Martin, is a British Overseas Territory: bring a valid passport. A ferry links Marigot to Blowing Point; by catamaran, a morning's sailing takes you straight to the white-sand beaches of Prickly Pear and Sandy Island.

The typical stay: 7 nights ashore, 1 or 2 nights at sea

The format that works best is simple: a week in a sea-view studio in Orient Bay, then a night at anchor aboard the Zéphyr, chosen according to the island you want to discover from the water. The studio remains your base; your luggage never moves.

Every night on board is on a fully privatised catamaran with a professional captain, for 2 to 4 guests, with meals and drinks included according to the package, snorkelling gear and paddleboards on board, fuel, insurance and taxes included. The 2026 rates by season and number of passengers are on each page; the Saint-Barth and Anguilla nights are booked on the Zéphyr catamaran website, the others directly here.

In what order, and in which season?

I recommend placing the night at sea in the middle or at the end of the stay, once you have settled into the island's rhythm. Rate tables follow two seasons: high season from December to April, low season from May to November. The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from 1 June to 30 November; the captain always adapts the anchorage and the programme to the day's weather.

Why a night on board rather than a villa in Saint-Barth or Anguilla?

Because the most beautiful thing about these two islands, their bays, is best experienced from the water. A night at anchor in Colombier or at Sandy Island puts the most unspoilt beaches within swimming distance, with no transfer, no crowds and no change of accommodation. For a stay entirely on land in Saint-Barth or Anguilla, the tourist boards listed below are the right starting points.

Do I need to know how to sail?

No. The Zéphyr is always privatised with its professional captain, plus a hostess or a chef depending on the package. You are passengers, not crew.

How many people on board for a night?

From 2 to 4 guests for a night at anchor, in private cabins with en-suite shower rooms. The Orient Bay studios sleep 2 guests; the Land & Sea package is designed for 2 people, up to 4 with a supplement.

Can I book the night at sea without the studio?

Yes. The Grand-Case, Saint-Barth and Anguilla nights are booked independently; only the Land & Sea package combines the two.
